The Family Day holiday gave the team a rare chance to race a round of the stair downhill series in the light of day. Even with the sunshine, the temperatures dipped between -12 and -18 degrees, but it wasn't cold enough to stop the racing. This stair race was also unique because it didn't actually involve any stairs. Instead, the race was held on the snowy slopes of Seven Hills in St. Albert. The medium-pack snow didn't provide much traction, but it did allow racers to endulge in some serious two-wheel drifting and some low-consequence yard-sales. Riders had to rely on experience and patience on the unpredictable surface; it was easy to push to hard and throw it all away in a corner.

As you can see. the team has set their sights on the Alberta Cup Downhill series and is looking to finish strong in these events. It is home turf afterall. See you at the races!

Mild temperatures made for icy conditions in Round 2 action. There were lots of riders crashing, gambling on traction where there was none. While Vince Bouwsema set the fastest time on the course, Derek Plehwe took the overall win from Vince after Vince went down in a corner on his final run. The 2009 Stair racing series is officially underway! The weather co-operated and the temperature was perfect for some wide-open winter racing. While there were a few ice patches here and there, the course was clean and dry which left everything squarely in the hands of the riders. No excuses. Just go as fast as you can through the steep wood and concrete jungle.
