Being ready while out on the mountain bike track is very important and it’s always good to pack more equipment the longer it would take to get to a help point. There are a few important necessities you should also make regardless of the skill level of cycling that you are at.

The first necessity, for anyone taking on bike riding, should be to have a well prepared first aid kit. You can buy biker specific first aid kits, that are especially designed to fit snug in a small pack, under the seat alternatively in saddlebags. A well prepared first aid kit will include band-aids, antiseptic, pain killers and bandages.

Another important necessity is to have a good bike tool kit and there many types available as to the type of bike you have and the tools you want it to include. The very standard tool kit should have the required tools needed to repair a flat tire and will fit easily under your seat or in a saddlebag. Other tools to look for are Allan keys, small wrench and a Swiss army knife to name just a few.

Another important piece of equipment to include is a spare mountain bike chain and a tool called a chain breaker. Most experienced bikers realize how easy it is to break a chain on the trails and the problem it can be. Broken chain can usually be repaired but it’s not worth the risk of being left without a chain in some remote area.

One last thing that is vital to include on your mountain cycle trail is a portable air pump. These pumps come in many designs and sizes and can be purchased specifically to fit your bike. Most pumps can fit on the frame, under the seat or in saddlebags, and often the bike repair kit includes one.

All good mountain cycle equipment are designed to be light weight and easily kept on your bike. It’s not worth the risk traveling away from help without then because being prepared with the right mountain biking equipment can save you many headaches and problems.

Routine cycling training is the first and foremost way to be successful at cycling. A cycling workout optimizes the body’s personal strengths and works on the weaknesses to improve over all performance. Training helps build the endurance needed for cycling. To stay physically fit and keep injuries to a minimum, a routine training program is a necessity.

Healthy eating habits will improve the body’s physical condition as well. The most important meal of the day, just like we have always been told, is still breakfast. Healthy choices such as cereal and fruit are essential. Normally, eating breakfast will cut down on the amount eaten the rest of the day. Vitamins C and vitamin E is reported to help the body replenish itself and aid in the healing of injuries.

Another factor not to be left out is the importance of sleep. To exert huge amounts of energy the body has to be well rested. We have all heard for years that a person needs eight hours of sleep each night. Research has since shown that a person needs close to nine hours of sleep each night. Roughly, the last few hours of sleep is when the mind goes into a deep REM sleep, which is the kind of sleep that restores the mind for the next day. Sufficient sleep is necessary to maintain the highest level of alertness. Cycling is a healthy and exhilarating sport. However, like all sports there are potential dangers. Your mind and body needs to be in top shape to avoid accidents and injuries.

Along with routine cycling workout before every cycling occasion, it is helpful to do warm ups first. No one should start a cycling session without first doing stretches. The muscles need to be limbered up making a muscle strain less likely. Calisthenics, jumping jacks, or any other kind of heart thumping exercise needs to be done to get the blood moving. After the cycling event, it is important to do light exercises or stretches to allow the muscles a slow cool down period.

Part of a cycling program is keeping up with the safety issues and advances connected to the sport. Always know how the law relates to cycling. Keep informed of new safety measures made by manufacturers of cycling equipment.

Cycling is a sport that demands a lot from the mind and body, but cycling will also give a lot in return. To thoroughly enjoy the sport a person needs to be in good shape, both mentally and physically. If a person is in good physical shape, there is no better sport to keep a person that way than cycling. Even those not yet in top shape can start slowly. With a good dedicated cycling program, good eating habits, and plenty of quality sleep, a normal healthy person can achieve top physical condition.

Question by londondreamer2: What are things to be aware of when cycling in the rain?
what are things to watch out for?
and what equipment would I need to get if I anticipate riding in rainy weather?

(I’m new to cycling so I’m a bit clueless about what to expect)
I’ll be commuting to/from work

Best answer:

Answer by Rusty
a bright jacket gd bike shops sell a nice range something yellow or red for the road would be better. they don’t come with hoods and don’t get one with a hood it will restrict your hearing of cars etc i normally wear a bandana to stop water running from my hair so badly.

the main problem on the roads is other people not paying attension, you are far more awake on your bike with wind in ur face than you ever are in a car so if you crash its gonna be the idiot in the cars fault but ur the one whoes gona be a cripple.

shorts n trousers wise lycra is pritty waterproof and full leg ones keep you walm! socks seal skins are expensive but they do the job so well dry walm everything you could ever want.

after a few weeks of constant riding you will prob be very gd but people always expect cyclist to be rubbish so don’t be surprised if they treat you like a idiot.

p.s. reflectors are gd lights are better but not essential there only gd to make people see you unless you fork out alot of money.

What do you think? Answer below!

Some folks inquire once they are just starting out cycling, if obtaining a pair of ladies or mens cycling shorts is seriously worth it. Somewhat basically, when you intend cycling regularly then most surely, they truly are. Cycling shorts will mean you can keep more comfy on your own bike in particular when cycling on lengthy journeys. For additional comfort, you could possibly on top of that look at obtaining some padded cycling shorts.

First of all, you will need to figure out just how much you’ll like to pay. Usually, the more you pay out, you’re going to discover a significantly better fit with increased higher quality, comfort plus the shorts will last for a longer time period. Ladies and mens cycling shorts are made up of flat stitched panels. With the more inexpensive end of the scale you might discover most shorts have four panels whilst the higher end products will have eight, which will fit better to the contours of your body. So, it can be crucial to find a proper fit. Shorts have to be pretty tight yet comfortable and shouldn’t bunch up.

When buying ladies and mens cycling shorts, you need to look at the materials used. Many are made from Lycra and other man-made materials. Try and avoid wearing anything made of cotton as this tends to soak up moisture and will never breathe effectively, consequently developing discomfort and most likely soreness. Getting some padded cycling shorts will obviously boost your complete comfort and health. They certainly can assisttoavert soreness along with other more serious ailments relating to being on the bike seat for lengthy periods of time. Traditionally, cycling shorts with padding would be created with chamois leather (my personal preference). This delivers a fantastic level of comfort and is naturally breathable. In recent times man-made gel padding is becoming more prevalent, even so whilst they are fairly comfortable, the material used does not breathe especially effectively as a result on longer rides chances are you’ll still end up feeling sore.

For all those who really feel maybe just a little self-conscious in sporting tight lycra, an additional option could be to purchase the baggy kind of shorts. These can provide a far more conventional design and style in order that they might be worn away from the bicycle without you looking quite conspicuous. You could additionally discover cycling shorts with padding with the baggy design and style. Strive to go for darker shades as these have a tendency to not show up the grime, nonetheless you’ll wish to still be observed at night time, for that reason look for some with hi vis reflectors integrated. For many people, sporting bib shorts might be much more comfortable. The shorts are held up by shoulder straps (somewhat like braces). These have the bonus of not possessing an elasticated waist so they will not rub. They may be on the other hand just a little more pricey.

Caring for the cycling shorts is very important so make certain that they’re washed on a regular basis. Most can be washed in the washing machine though it is usually ideal to line dry them. An excellent place to seek out padded cycling shorts is obviously the web where you’ll find skilled cycle merchants who will provide you with efficient guidance just before you come to a decision to purchase. You might additionally use a price comparison web site such as http://www.mycycleshop.co.uk this is really a fantastic resource for locating just about any type of cycling equipment and supplies you the capability to seek out the best prices without having the hassle of going from site to site.
